Conductor Information

Conductor: Gülsen Yavuzkal

Gülsen Yavuzkal is a graduate of Marmara University's AEF Music Department and a protégé in vocal training of Professor Yıldız Dağdelen at the Istanbul Municipality Conservatory. She went on to teach music and choir in various public and private schools in Turkey, as well as serve the community and give many concerts both in Turkey and abroad.

Yavuzkal also participated in choral training opportunities and conducting performances in several European countries and worked with such illustrious conductors as Professor Fritz Ter Wey of the Vox-Europa music community and Wim van Herk in the Netherlands. Furthermore, she participated in workshops in Hungary, Estonia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Finland and Italy. She also attended prestigious international music workshops like Austria-Graz in July of 2000 and France-Biaritz in 2003, studying under such notable professors as Dr. Rodney Eichenberger (choral conducting) and Dr. L. Briefelt (Education Psychology).

Besides her work as conductor of the Borusan Children's Choir, Gülsen Yavuzkal is also the conductor of the European Chamber Choir and Koralistanbul. Moreover, she continues to sing and is an active member of Istanbul's European Choir, the Galata Chamber Choir and AG34.
