The Borusan Children's Choir
Bearing in mind that children’s choirs have historically had a profound impact in the inspiration and training of musicians and that many famous composers and musicians trace the love for music in their hearts back to children’s choirs, Borusan Center for Culture and Arts stepped out in 2002 to break new ground with this ambitious project.
Borusan Children’s Choir was established in November 2002 under the leadership of chorus master Gülsen Yavuzkal. Formed of children 40 choristers between the ages of eight to foruteen, the Choir sings children’s songs from various countries and in different languages. In addition to a cappela performances, they also perform by piano accompaniment as well as the Borusan Children’s Quartet.
Comprised, entirely, of students from the Okçu Musa Secondary School in Beyoğlu, the Borusan Children’s Choir performs six concerts a year and is planning to increase its performances after the opening of Borusan’s MusicHouse in 2010. Until now, they have performed at national holiday celebrations, New Year’s concerts at cultural institutions, at elementary schools, children’s festivals and other special occasions.
