Joseph Caballé-Domenech

Born in Barcelona into a family of musicians, young Catalan conductor Josep Caballé-Domenech is establishing a strong track record for both his work in the opera house and on the symphonic stage in a wide repertoire.

Engagements this season include concerts with Zürich Tonhalle, a Zarzuela concert in Porto, and his début with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. Cabellé-Domenech also returns to work with the Orchestre National de Belgique, the Malmo Symphony Orchestra, Orquestra Sinfonica de Barcelona, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, and the Trondheim Symphony and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras.

Recent highlights include WDR Cologne, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the BBC Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National, Bamberg Symphony, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Swedish Radio Symphony, Czech Philharmonic, Belgian National and National Norwegian Youth Orchestras.

Cabellé-Domenech made his operatic début with Barcelona's Liceu in 2004, followed by several other productions, including Goyescas at the Savonlinna Festival. Other appearances include the Figueira da Foz Festival with Lisbon's Teatro São Carlo, the Stuttgart State Opera and Vienna Volksoper.

Among his numerous and prestigious awards, Cabellé-Domenech received the "Sir Colin Davis' Protégé" decoration in the first Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative's inaugural cycle and the "Aspen Prize" from the American Academy of Conducting in Aspen, Colorado. Josep Caballé-Domenech returned to Aspen as Assistant Conductor in 2002 and as Guest Conductor in 2003.
