Now comes the time for BIPO’s traditional tribute concerts dedicated to Leyla Gencer one of the greatest sopranos of the 20th century. BIPO closes the season with a concert to be talked about for a long time: a concert performance of Bellini’s Norma, one of the masterpieces of bel canto, which also held a special place in Gencer’s repertoire. Featuring Italian soprano Maria Pia Piscitelli in the lead role, this Norma has a cast worthy of its fame, such as mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova as Adalgisa, Massimo Giordano as Pollione, and Dan Paul Dumitrescu as Oroveso. What makes this concert all the more important is that, Norma will be performed for the first time in Istanbul after four decades.
