On the 26th of the highly anticipated Nova Muzak concerts, a first will take place in the history of Turkish Music as the legendary German band Embryo meets the audience at Borusan Music House.

First times are always exciting but this first time is more so for Turkish music enthusiasts because it has been delayed for so long… The largest “collective” that has blended kraut-rock, space-rock, jazz and world music in its unique style, Embryo is coming to İstanbul as the 50th anniversary of its foundation draws near.

Founded in Munich, Germany in 1969 by Christian Burcard, Edgar Hoffmann and Lothar Meid, Embryo is the band that rocked the stage right after Jimi Hendrix at the Fehrman Festival in 1970. Afterwards, they became the first band to create their own record label with another German band Ton Steine Scherben. The band’s 1973 release Rocksession is still among the top kraut-rock albums. Embryo blended rock initially with jazz and then world music, playing with local musicians on their long journeys to Asia and Africa. Embryo shared the stage with musicians including Fela Kuti, Ravi Shankar, Okay Temiz, Trilok Gurtu, Charlie Marano and Mal Waldron. Embryo retains the spirit of the day it was founded yet ever vitalized with fresh energy, keeps on flowing by transforming jazz, rock and ethnic tunes and rhythms into a unique sound.

Before Embryo, Austrian electronic music trio Radian will take stage. A dynamism that goes back and forth between light and darkness, soft sounds and sharp edges, free improvisation and flawless structures might define the Viennese band Radian to some extent.

Do not miss this unique night!
