PEP TALK
Pep Talk is an avant-pop duo founded in 2019. Cansu Tanrıkulu and Korhan Erel use poetry, absurdist texts, electronics, their voices, effects and many other means of creating sounds and ideas to come up with songs. While being a duo of accessible music, they draw from their musical backgrounds as two prominent musicians of Berlin’s experimental scene. They were introduced to Charles Lindsay’s photography and poetry by David Rothenberg in 2022 and decided to record an album-based Lindsay’s book “Recipes for the Mind”. They will present this work at Borusan Music House in Istanbul in May 2024.

BÖSEBLICK
Founded in 2021, Böseblick (Evil Eye) is an ensemble of four Berlin-based musicians with very different backgrounds in terms of origins and musical influences, and the electronic instrumentation they play. Supported by Initiative Neue Musik Berlin in 2022, Böseblick Ensemble’s sound combines melodic motifs with intriguing dissonance, a combination of meticulously composed elements and spontaneous improvisation. Blurring the line between composed and improvised playing, the Böseblick Ensemble’s music combines elements of melody and noise with fluidity and grace, articulating a reflection on contemporary issues of cultural appropriation, homeland and togetherness, and creating soundscapes beyond established traditions.
