Blending ethnic music with contemporary jazz, Greek pianist and composer Tania Giannouli is offering you an intoxicating musical experience at the Borusan Music House.

With her formal education rooted in piano, advanced theory and composition, pianist Tania Giannouli’s main interest lies in mixed media and she is frequently engaged (both as a performer and composer) in projects that combine music with visuals, text and speech. Her music for theatre, film and video has been performed at festivals, galleries, Biennales and museums throughout the world. Her first album Forest Stories released by the Rattle label is the product of a collaboration with Portuguese wind player and improviser Paulo Chagas and received international acclaim garnering her very positive critiques. She formed the Tania Giannouli Ensemble in 2014 and performed with them all around Greece cementing her position in her home country. Her second album Transcendence bearing traces of contemporary music, Greek folk music, contemporary jazz and world music as well as the avant-garde is a special work bringing lyricism and passion together. Giannouli’s concert music has also been performed by Camerata/Armonia Atenea String Orchestra, Dissonart Ensemble, the Athens Youth Orchestra, and the Galaxy String Quartet. In August 2016 she participated in the most exciting and demanding site-concert in Greece “634 minutes inside the volcano”, where she-together with 14 more musicians- improvised for more than 10 hours inside the crater of Nisyros’ active volcano. Together with her ensemble Giannouli will bring a selection of her original, eclectic, lyrical and intoxicating music to the Borusan Music House.
