In this second concert where Katia and Marielle Labèque will be BIPO’s guests, the orchestra will be directed by Belgian conductor Karel Deseure, who is highly acclaimed for his sophisticated technique in managing opera and ballet performances as well as orchestral concerts. Deseure’s packed programme for 2021 had also included St. Matthew Passion by J.S. Bach and Die Fledermaus (The Bat) operetta by Johann Strauss II. Other guest stars of the concert are the guitar virtuosi David Chalmin and Bryce Dessner. Chalmin, who has extended his repertoire from classical music to popular genres and experimental works, has shared the stage with names such as Thom Yorke, Rufus and Madonna in addition to his work with the Labèque sisters. Two works of Bryce Dessner, who is the other soloist of the concert and the other important name of these collaborations and The National, will be performed in the same programme.
