A familiar name for Istanbul’s classical fans, Valeriy Sokolov has, in years, become one of the finest virtuosos of our times. He has performed with orchestras like Philharmonia, Cleveland, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestras, Orchestre National de France and Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen under great conductors such as Ashkenazy, Zinman, Petrenko and Nelsons. One of the star laureates of the Yehudi Menuhin School, Sokolov came to international attention after winning the George Enescu International Violin Competition in 2005 and has not stopped rising ever since. With BIPO he will be performing one of Brahms’s most beloved works, his Violin Concerto in D Major.
