The Nova Muzak Series organised in collaboration with Borusan Sanat, and KOD Music continues to bring a breath of fresh air to our music lives since December 2011. On the 29th concert of the series Nova Muzak presents yet another premiere in Turkey: Matt Elliot, one of the prominent singer-songwriter of the 2000s and Colleen, the hidden gem of the electronic music scene, will be at the Borusan Music House on March 22.

MATT ELLIOTT & VACARME
Matt Elliott, the dark sound of the melancholy of the urbanite, started his music career in early 1990’s Bristol. After participating in post-rock/experimental rock music projects including Bristol Flying Saucer Attack / Movietone / Amp, he initiated the Third Eye Foundation project where he brought together distorted electronic sound samples and jungle/drum’n’bass rhythms. He has released four studio albums from 1996 to 2000 and has produced remixes for musicians including Thurston Moore, Blonde Redhead, Ulver, Tarwater and Yann Tiersen.

Matt Elliott produced a very personal, dark and organic electronica with the TEF, and shocked his fans with his first solo album The Mess We Made released in 2004. He was calling from an entirely different tradition, from the singer-songwriter/folk music world yet it was possible to trace the ambience he created using electronic sounds in parallel universes in the tales he told with acoustic sounds. Between the years 2014 and 2016, he produced seven albums in total drawing in particular from old European folk music (Slavic / Eastern European / Mediterranean-Spanish). He has elevated himself to the heights of being a singer-songwriter, especially with the Songs (Drinking, Failing, Howling) trilogy.

Matt Elliott excels in blending the anger and feelings of confinement socio-political issues evoke in the individual. He brings personal sorrow and pain together with experimental, progressive tones on a dark foundation with a sound of his own. For this performance with the French string trio Vacarme, he will no doubt entrance his Turkish fans.

COLLEEN
Colleen is the project of French producer/multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Cecile Schott who stands on a fine line between electronic and experimental music. Known for always renewing her approaches and using different methods and instruments (acoustic sound samples, acoustic instruments, dub technique, modular synths etc.) to produce her music, Cecile Schott’s first album Everyone Alive Wants Answers was released in 2003. Schott made a name for herself with the album produced entirely with acoustic extracts from her eclectic record collection. She developed this method even further in her second album The Golden Morning Breaks by using live instruments (modified with loops and effects) in her compositions. In The Weighing of the Heart album released in 2013, she not only shifted to experimental pop but also for the very first time used her own voice and vocals in her compositions. In Captain of None, released in 2015 after she signed with the prestigious record label Thrill Jockey, she interpreted her otherworldly vocal pop songs with dub techniques. Influenced by her first-hand experience of the 2015 Paris Terror Attacks, themes of life and death, fear and joy, despair and hope go hand in hand in her album A Flame My Love, A Frequency released in 2017, produced entirely by electronic instrumentation. Numerous magazines and critics considered the album among the albums of the year. Colleen aka Cecile Schott will be at the Borusan Music House sharing her accumulated experience with adventurous music enthusiasts.
