Listening to Ahmed Adnan Saygun’s Yunus Emre Oratorio, a masterpiece from Turkey’s polyphonic music history, from BIPO under the direction of its honorary conductor Gürer Aykal, is truly a privilege. Saygun’s work, in which he combines Anatolian folk literature with his musical language through modal textures, gains a unique dimension with the atmosphere created by the combination of the choir and the orchestra. The soloists of the night where BIPO will share the stage with the Magma Philharmonic Choir under the direction of Masis Aram Gözbek, are the powerful voices of the State Opera Ballet who have represented our country with their brilliant 19th-century opera repertoire as well as their success in prestigious competitions; soprano Hale Soner, mezzosoprano Nesrin Gönüldağ, tenor Ayhan Uştuk, and bass Tuncay Kurtoğlu.
