The 20th century saw a tremendous advance in all fields of art, but none seemed as interesting as the sounds echoing from America. This second concert of BIPO’s thematic festival West Side Story presents masterpieces from a musical adventure spanning from the 19th to the 20th century. For this special occasion, BIPO welcomes young American pianist Kit Armstrong, a true genius of our times whose creativity in music extends to mathematics, origami, topology and computer games. By the age of 10, the number of his compositions had already exceeded his age and the great Alfred Brendel didn’t hesitate a moment to tutor him after listening to his works. Winning the 2010 Leonard Bernstein Prize at 18, Armstrong will certainly mesmerize us with Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F.
