MUSICAL ATLAS OF TURKEY

Borusan Culture and Arts, proudly introduces Musical Atlas of Turkey penned by music author and critic Ahmet Say to friends of music as its first publication in the field. The book investigates the progress of music in Turkey from the beginning of the Republic period to this day. Ahmet Say, one of our esteemed musicologists known for his work in music education and publications, turns the first map that starts with a catalogue of Turkey’s composers and their thousands of works into an atlas that encompasses Turkey’s opera and ballet institutions to symphony orchestras, chamber music orchestras to traditional music education programs, festivals, foundations and societies. “Musical Atlas of Turkey” introduces the main musical genres throughout Turkey’s history beginning from the cultural and historical legacies of Anatolian civilizations and revealing the interactions between Anatolian and European music. With sections as “military music”, “traditional music” and “musical education” Ahmet Say reflects the conditions of music production that are unique to Turkey.

Published by Borusan Culture and Arts and consisting of 336 pages, Musical Atlas of Turkey is the product of dedicated and meticulous research.
